Private Classes

Private classes are a privilege for students who have been enrolled consecutively for 3 or more years and must be taken in addition to a regular group class. These are given by approval only and are limited to available class time. An application must be submitted in order to be considered for any extra dance.  These applications may be requested at the desk or downloaded here.

Applications must be submitted by October 15th to be considered for competition and December 15th in order to participate in the recital. (If you are planning to use this dance for a competition entry at any time in the future, you must indicate this on the application.)  The signatures of all parents involved must be on the application. These signatures recognize that the parents agree to and take responsibility for all extra fees involved. (tuition, costuming, music, shoes, entry fees, etc.) You may request a certain type of dance or music on your application but the choreographer has the final say on these aspects.  Submitting an application does not mean you will automatically be approved.  Considerations will be taken for how well you know your regular dance routines, how committed you are to your other classes, your payment record and how many extra dances have already been approved to perform in the recital.  Applications will be considered in the order received.

Tuition for solos is $30 per 45 minute session. (Tuition for duets/trios is $30 total or $15/$10 per person for a 45 minute session.) This pays for the time for the person choreographing and rehearsing the routine. This amount is due at each practice. You must call to cancel your class at least 3 hours in advance if you will not be there, otherwise you will still be charged for the class.

Costumes must be approved for use in the recital and competitions. If you are planning on ordering the costume, it must be chosen & paid for by November 1st for competition or January 15th for recital.  If you are obtaining your own costume, it must be ready to dance in at least 2 months before recital/competition, at which time it will be approved.

All private class dances must have at least 4 hours of studio rehearsal time (5-6 classes) before it will be allowed to be performed in the recital (6 hours for competitions). All routines must be presented for approval 2 weeks prior to each performance in order to perform in competition or recital.  Routines that are not performance ready within this time frame will not be allowed to perform, regardless of whether an entry fee has been paid or not. Home practice is strongly recommended in order to prepare for this presentation. It is your responsibility to learn and memorize routines.

Please note, all choreography belongs to and is copyrighted by Farmington School of Dance and the person who choreographed the dance. It may not be used at any performance not in conjunction with the Farmington School of Dance including but not limited to: any talent show, any other dance recital or in conjunction with any other studio any time in the future without permission. You must obtain written permission from the choreographer and the studio director any and every time the routine is performed.

Prices subject to change without notice.
